Proofly is a suite of native Framer plugins for the things Framer leaves out: PageLock (server-side password protection), Proofly Forms and Forms Inbox (form capture), React Export, MCP (AI automation), and ThemeShift (dark mode). One account covers them all. ### Do I need a separate account for each plugin? No. One Proofly account gives you access to every plugin, with a single dashboard for your data and one billing record. Install whichever plugins you need from the Framer Marketplace. ### Are the plugins really free to start? MCP and ThemeShift are free. PageLock, Proofly Forms, and Forms Inbox have free tiers, and React Export lets you preview in the canvas for free. You only pay when you need more, for example to lock a custom domain. ### How does PageLock protect a page? When you lock a page, PageLock removes the protected content from the published page and stores it on Proofly servers, so the page that ships to visitors contains only a login form. Disabling JavaScript or viewing page source reveals nothing. After a visitor signs in, the server verifies their login and returns the content to their browser only for that authenticated session. Credentials are stored only as salted hashes. Read the full guide to password protecting a Framer page , or see how PageLock compares to Memberstack . ### Where is my data stored? Account data and form submissions are hosted in the European Union. You can export or delete your data from your dashboard at any time. See our privacy and security pages for the full subprocessor list. ### How do I get started? Create a free Proofly account, then install any plugin from the Framer Marketplace and connect it to your account. Setup for most plugins takes a couple of minutes with no code. ## Get in Touch Have questions? We'd love to hear from you. Send us a message and we'll respond as soon as possible. You keep access until the end of the current billing period. What’s your refund policy? React Export comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. PageLock paid plans carry a 7-day no-questions money-back guarantee on your first purchase. Other paid plans are cancel-anytime: you keep access until the end of your billing period, with no money-back guarantee. Free tiers stay free. Do you offer yearly plans? Yes. Plans that offer yearly billing show a monthly/yearly toggle on their card above, and the Proofly Pro bundle has a yearly option too. You can switch your billing interval any time from the dashboard . Do I need a separate plan per product? Each product is billed independently. If you use multiple products, the Proofly Pro bundle is cheaper than buying each plan separately. Is there a free tier? PageLock is free on Framer staging domains. Proofly Forms has a free tier of up to 3 forms and 50 submissions a month, and the $69 one-time purchase removes those caps. Forms Inbox is free for 50 submissions a month. MCP and ThemeShift are completely free. Do you support custom invoicing or VAT? Yes. Configure invoice details, VAT number, and company entity in dashboard, billing details after your first purchase. ## Ready to ship? Start free, upgrade when you need more. Cancel anytime . The page visitors load contains only a login form, so disabling JavaScript or viewing source reveals nothing. The content is returned to the browser only after the server verifies the visitor's login. Get it on the Framer Marketplace See pricing Content stored server-side Protected content never ships in the published page Hashed credentials Passwords and PINs are stored only as salted hashes CMS + custom domains Lock CMS pages and your production domain ## A real gate, not a client-side trick Most Framer password plugins hide content with CSS or JavaScript that anyone can defeat. PageLock gates content on the server, so it is never sent to the browser until you log in. ### Server-side gating Your content is removed from the published page and stored on Proofly servers, then returned only after the server verifies the visitor. It cannot be bypassed by disabling JavaScript or reading View Source. ### Hashed credentials Passwords and PINs are stored only as salted hashes, never in plaintext, and never sent to the visitor's browser. ### Email OTP, PIN & passwords Gate with a PIN, a username and password, or email one-time codes. Support multiple users per lock and a forgot-credentials flow. ### Lock CMS pages Protect dynamic CMS collection pages, not just static ones - ideal for client portals and member-only content. ### Custom domain support Lock pages on your production custom domain, not just the Framer staging URL. One custom domain is included on Pro. ### Fully customizable gate Premium templates plus custom copy, colors, logo, background, layout, PIN style and branding - match the gate to your site. ## The problem with JavaScript protection Most Framer password components hide content in the browser, where anyone can reveal it. ### JavaScript Solutions Content visible in page source Bypass with browser DevTools Disable JavaScript to view Password stored in client code Zero real security See detailed comparison ### PageLock Content on hidden server URL Server-side validation only No content until authenticated Credentials never exposed True enterprise security See why this matters ## Protected in 3 steps Install, pick a page, set credentials. Publish and it is locked. 1 ### Install PageLock Add PageLock from the Framer Marketplace. No code, no config. 2 ### Pick a page & set access Choose the page to lock and set a PIN, password, or email OTP. Add as many users as you need. 3 ### Publish Your page is now served behind a server-side gate. Visitors see the login, never the content. ## Perfect for Client portals, member areas, staging sites, and any page that should not be public. ### Client Portals Share project updates with specific clients securely. See how The Scenario: You're building a website for a client. You want to share progress without the world seeing unfinished work or sensitive business information. The Solution: 1 . Create a page lock in your dashboard 2 . Add your client as a user with their own login 3 . Apply PageLock to your staging or preview page 4 . Share the link - only your client can access it Setup time: 2 minutes Set Up Client Portal ### Member Areas Create exclusive content for paying members. See how The Scenario: You've built a membership site or community and need to restrict premium content to paying subscribers only. The Solution: 1 . Create user accounts for each member 2 . Protect your premium content pages 3 . Members log in to access exclusive content 4 . Revoke access instantly when needed Setup time: 5 minutes Create Member Area ### Private Portfolios Share confidential work samples securely. See how The Scenario: You have NDA-protected work or case studies that you can only show to specific potential clients or employers. The Solution: 1 . Upload your confidential portfolio work 2 . Create a page lock with a simple PIN 3 . Share the PIN verbally or via secure message 4 . Track who's viewed your work Setup time: 2 minutes Protect Portfolio ### Internal Docs Keep team documentation private. See how The Scenario: Your team needs a central place for SOPs, processes, and internal resources that shouldn't be publicly accessible. The Solution: 1 . Create your documentation in Framer 2 . Set up team member accounts 3 . Apply PageLock to the docs section 4 . Team members access with their credentials Setup time: 3 minutes Secure Your Docs ### Gated Resources Deliver lead magnets to qualified leads. Set up email-based authentication 3 . Visitors enter email to access content 4 . Build your email list automatically Setup time: 3 minutes Gate Your Resources ### Preview Pages Share work-in-progress with stakeholders. See how The Scenario: You're working on a new design and need feedback from stakeholders before the official launch. The Solution: 1 . Build your preview page in Framer 2 . Create a temporary page lock 3 . Share access with reviewers 4 . Remove the lock when ready to launch Setup time: 1 minute Create Preview Page ## Pricing Free on staging domains. Upgrade to Pro to lock your custom domain. $15.99 /month Free tier for staging domains · Unlimited page locks · 1 custom domain included · $159/year · 7-day money back on your first purchase Install on Framer See full pricing Read the docs Live on Framer Marketplace · Free on staging ## Common questions Can the protection be bypassed? Not by the usual methods used to defeat other Framer plugins. Because the gate runs on the server, the protected content is never sent to the browser until you log in - disabling JavaScript or opening View Source / DevTools reveals only the login page. See PageLock vs custom code for a full comparison of protection approaches. How are passwords stored? All credentials are hashed (salted) and stored securely in our database. They are never kept in plaintext and never sent to the visitor's browser. Can I lock CMS pages? Yes. PageLock can protect dynamic CMS collection pages as well as static pages, which is what makes it work for client portals and member areas . Is there a free tier? Yes. PageLock is free on Framer staging domains. Upgrade to Pro to lock your custom production domain - one custom domain is included. What can I customize? The gate copy, colors, logo, background image, layout, PIN style, keypad, back button and brand text. Premium templates and saved presets are included on Pro. ## Learn more ### Framer password protection guide How to password protect a Framer page, step by step. It runs inside Framer in your browser. 2 ### Connect your AI assistant Point your MCP client at the Proofly MCP server URL shown in the plugin. It bridges your assistant to the plugin over a WebSocket connection. 3 ### Drive Framer Ask your assistant to design, edit, audit, or export. It calls the right tools and the changes land in your project. ## Pricing Free on the Framer Marketplace. Every tool is included, with no paid tier. Free  on Framer Marketplace Over 130 tools · One shared MCP URL · Every tool free · No paid tier Install on Framer See full pricing Read the docs Live on Framer Marketplace · Free forever ## Common questions What is Proofly MCP? It is a Framer plugin that speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the standard that lets AI assistants and agents call tools. With it connected, your assistant can drive Framer programmatically across more than 130 tools. How does it connect to my AI assistant? The plugin runs inside Framer in your browser and keeps a WebSocket connection to the Proofly MCP server. Your MCP client talks to that server over one URL and can call tools that take effect in the Framer canvas. What can the tools actually do? They cover design and layout, bulk CMS and text updates, SEO and accessibility audits, code components, React export, and project inspection and snapshots. Some tools run in the plugin, some on the server, and some use both in a hybrid path. Is it really free? Yes. Every tool is free and there is no paid tier. Install it from the Framer Marketplace and connect your assistant. Why is there a local server? The local server is what your MCP client talks to. It handles the server-only and hybrid execution paths and bridges requests through to the plugin running in Framer, so the assistant can both reason about and change your project. ## Ready to let AI drive Framer? Install Proofly MCP and connect your assistant in minutes. It is completely free. Get it on the Framer Marketplace ## Pair with… Proofly MCP works alongside the rest of the Proofly suite. ### PageLock Lock the pages your assistant builds behind a real server-side gate. A full React + Vite project as a ZIP, or via the @proofly-framer/react-export NPM CLI directly into your build pipeline. Styles, variants, breakpoints, Framer Motion animations, and component property controls all preserved. Why not just use Framer’s built-in code export? Framer’s built-in export is in beta and limited. React Export ships production-ready code: framer-motion bundled, imports rewritten, color styles mapped to CSS variables, smart App.tsx generated, NPM-installable. Can I integrate it into my existing React app? Yes. The NPM CLI lets you publish individual components to a registry and npm install them directly into your project. No copy-paste, no manual refactor. How is React Export priced? Preview your export free in the Framer canvas. A Pro subscription unlocks unlimited exports (ZIP download and NPM install) for your project. See the pricing page for current plans, including yearly and team options. Yes. Free on the Framer Marketplace, no paid tier. Install once and ship dark mode to any Framer site. Will it cause flash-of-unstyled-content (FOUC)? No. ThemeShift ships an anti-FOUC script that applies the saved theme before the page paints. Visitors never see the wrong theme flicker. How does the auto-color generation work? ThemeShift inspects your color palette and generates an inverted-luminance dark variant for each color, preserving hue and saturation relationships. Override any specific color manually. What are ThemeShow and ThemeImage? Companion components. ThemeShow conditionally renders different content per theme (e.g., different brand logo for light vs dark). ThemeImage swaps the image source on theme change. Can I schedule dark mode (e.g., night-time)? Yes. Schedule themes by time-of-day or honour the OS-level prefers-color-scheme . Visitors can override with the toggle. Will this slow down my Framer site? No - the runtime is <3kb gzipped and executes synchronously before paint. No network requests, no external CSS. ## Ready for Dark Mode? Install ThemeShift and add a polished dark mode to your Framer site in minutes. Learn more → --- URL: https://proofly.ae/pagelock-vs-javascript Title: PageLock vs JavaScript Password Protection | Proofly Security Comparison # PageLock vs JavaScript Password Protection Most Framer password components don't actually protect your content - it still ships to the browser. Here's why JavaScript protection fails and how PageLock solves it. ## The Security Comparison Security Aspect JavaScript Components PageLock Content in page source? Yes - visible to anyone No - on hidden server URL Bypass with DevTools? Yes - 30 seconds No Disable JavaScript bypass? Yes - content shows No - login still required Web scraper access? Yes - full content No - only login form Password storage In client-side code Secure server database Security level Zero (visual only) Server-side ## How JavaScript Protection Fails Anyone with basic technical knowledge can bypass it ### View Page Source Right-click, 'View Source' and scroll down. Your 'protected' content is right there in the HTML, hidden by CSS. ### Browser DevTools Press F12, find the hidden div, change display:none to display:block. Done in under 30 seconds. ### Disable JavaScript Turn off JavaScript in browser settings. Many JS protections simply fail and show everything. ### Find Password in Code The password is often stored in the JavaScript itself. Search the source for common variable names. ## How PageLock Actually Works Server-side protection that cannot be bypassed by disabling JavaScript or viewing source 1 ### Content Stored Server-Side When you protect a page, the actual content is removed from the published page and stored on Proofly servers. 2 ### Original Page Shows Login The original URL now only contains the login form. There's no hidden content - it literally isn't there. 3 ### Server Validates & Serves After correct authentication, the server retrieves and displays your content. Never exposed until verified. ## What Server-Side Protection Actually Means The phrase gets used loosely, so here is the concrete mechanism. When you protect a page with PageLock, the plugin removes the protected content from the page Framer publishes and stores it on Proofly servers. What ships to every visitor is a page containing only the login form. There is no hidden div, no display:none, no encrypted blob waiting in the bundle: the content is not on the client at all. When a visitor logs in, the credential goes to the server, the server verifies it against a salted hash, and only then does the server return the protected content for that authenticated session. That order of operations is the entire security difference. A JavaScript gate makes the browser promise not to show content it already has; a server-side gate never hands the content over in the first place. This is also why the usual bypass tricks fail against it. Disabling JavaScript leaves you with a login form. View Source shows a login form. DevTools shows a login form. A scraper fetches a login form. The content simply is not there to find, and no amount of client-side cleverness changes what the server refuses to send. ## The Other Alternatives JavaScript overlays are not the only alternative to PageLock. Here is where the rest of the field lands. ### Framer's built-in site password Genuinely secure, because Framer enforces it server-side, but it is all or nothing: one shared password gates the entire site. You cannot keep your homepage public while protecting one page, and you cannot give different people different credentials. Details in the password protection guide . ### Membership platforms Memberstack and Outseta add real accounts and billing, and their gating is legitimate. The tradeoff is scope: platform pricing and platform setup for what is sometimes just one locked page. See PageLock vs Memberstack . ### Hiding pages from navigation Removing a page from the menu is not protection. The URL still works for anyone who has it, search engines can still find it, and link previews can leak it. Obscurity fails silently, which makes it worse than an honest overlay. ### Moving content off Framer Some teams put private content in Notion or Drive instead. It works, but now your client experience lives off-brand and off-domain, and link-based sharing is one forward away from public. ## Migrating From a JavaScript Gate Already shipped an overlay-protected page? Switching takes a few minutes: 1 ### Remove the overlay component Delete the password component or code override from the page in Framer. 2 ### Lock the page with PageLock Create a lock in the dashboard, run the plugin on the same page, publish. 3 ### Verify the fix Open the published page, View Source, and search for your protected text. With a server-side gate it is simply not there. Our free security checker automates this test. ## Common Questions ### Why do people use JavaScript protection if it's insecure? Because it's easy to build and looks like it works. Most people never test the security - they see a password prompt and assume it's protected. ### Is PageLock harder to set up? No! The setup is just as simple - create a lock, run the plugin. The security difference happens behind the scenes. ### Does PageLock slow down my site? The login check adds milliseconds. Once authenticated, content loads at normal Framer speeds. You won't notice any difference. ### Can I migrate from a JavaScript solution? Yes! Simply remove the old component, run the PageLock plugin on the same page, and you'll have real protection. ### How do I test whether my current protection is real? Open your protected page in a private window and use View Source to search for the protected text, or run our free security checker . If the content appears in the page source before you log in, the protection is visual only. ## Keep reading See everything the plugin does on the PageLock product page , or follow the step-by-step guide to password protecting a Framer page . ## Ready for Real Security? Your page is now protected with real server-side security! ## PageLock vs Framer's Built-In Password Protection Framer ships with site password protection. For some sites it is enough. Here is where it stops. ### Framer built-in password Covers the whole site, not individual pages One shared password for every visitor No per-page or per-client control No member accounts or email logins ### PageLock Lock individual pages while the rest stays public Different credentials per page or per client Password, PIN, or email OTP login per lock Multiple users per lock, revocable any time The built-in option is the right call when your entire site is private and one shared password for everyone is acceptable, for example a site that is still in production. It becomes the wrong tool the moment your marketing pages must stay public while a proposal, portfolio piece, or client area needs a gate, because Framer's password covers everything or nothing. PageLock works at the page level: your homepage stays indexed and public while /proposal-acme asks for a password, and each client can have their own credentials you revoke when the project ends. ## Choosing an Authentication Type Every lock can use one of three login methods. Pick by audience, not by taste. ### Password The classic. One shared secret you send to your audience. Best for client previews and internal pages where rotating a single password now and then is fine. Credentials are stored as salted hashes on Proofly servers, never in the page itself. ### PIN A short numeric code entered on a keypad. Fastest to type on a phone, which makes it popular for event pages and gated downloads shared over chat. Same server-side verification as passwords, just a friendlier input. ### Email OTP Visitors enter their email address and receive a one-time code. No shared secret to leak: access follows the inbox. This is the closest thing to a light Framer membership flow without running a membership platform, and it gives you a record of who requested access. ### Multiple users per lock A single lock can hold several users, each with their own credential. Onboard a new client contact or revoke a departed one without touching anyone else's access. ## Beyond One Page: CMS Locking, Member Areas, Paywalls Password protecting a single Framer page is the starting point. The same server-side gate extends to the rest of your site as it grows. ### Framer CMS locking PageLock can protect dynamic CMS collection pages, not just static ones. That means a whole set of gated content in Framer, like course lessons or client deliverables stored as CMS items, sits behind one login. ### Member areas and client portals Combine locked pages with per-user credentials and you have a working member area or client portal without an external platform. See the guides to member areas in Framer and client portals in Framer . ### Simple paywalls A paywall is a gate plus a way to hand out credentials after payment. Many creators sell access through their existing checkout (Stripe payment links, Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy) and deliver a PageLock password or OTP access on the confirmation page. The content itself stays server-side protected in Framer. ### Cost and limits PageLock is free on Framer staging domains, so you can build and test the whole flow before paying anything. Locking a custom production domain needs a paid plan; see pricing for live plans, and the PageLock product page for the full feature list. ## Common Questions ### Is PageLock really secure? Yes. Unlike JavaScript solutions, PageLock uses server-side protection. The protected content is removed from your published page and stored on Proofly servers, so the page visitors load contains only the login form. There's nothing to bypass because the content isn't in the page, and after a visitor logs in the server returns the content only for that authenticated session. Credentials are stored as salted hashes. ### Do I need to know how to code? No coding required. The entire process is point-and-click through our dashboard and Framer plugin. ### How much does it cost? PageLock is free on Framer staging domains. To lock a custom production domain, upgrade to a paid plan. See current pricing for live plans and prices. ### Does it work with custom domains? Yes! Upgrade to lock your custom client-portal domain. See plans & pricing How PageLock works ## What Goes Into a Good Client Portal The portal is just Framer pages, so structure it the way you would any project hub. A pattern that works for most agencies: ### A status page per project Current phase, what shipped this week, what is blocked and on whom. This one page kills most check-in emails. Because it is a normal Framer page, updating it is a publish, not a deployment. ### Deliverables and files Embed Figma frames, link final assets, or list downloads. Clients always find the latest version in the same place instead of digging through email threads. ### A feedback form Add a Framer form pointed at Proofly Forms and client feedback lands in your dashboard with the page it came from, instead of scattered across channels. ### CMS-driven client pages Running many clients? Model portals as a Framer CMS collection, one item per client, and lock the collection pages. PageLock supports Framer CMS locking, so each generated page sits behind the gate automatically. ## Alternatives, Honestly A client portal in Framer is not the only way to share work. Here is how the other approaches trade off. ### Framer's built-in site password Free and instant, but site-wide: one shared password covers everything, so you cannot keep marketing pages public while gating client work, and every client shares the same secret. ### Membership platforms (Memberstack, Outseta) The right tool when clients must self-register, pay subscriptions, or manage profiles. For a handful of known clients it is more product than you need, with platform pricing to match. See PageLock vs Memberstack and PageLock vs Outseta . ### Notion or Google Drive links Zero setup, but off-brand, and link-based sharing is one forward away from public. A portal on your own domain looks like part of your service, because it is. ### Custom-coded gate JavaScript overlays hide content visually while shipping it in the page source. Read PageLock vs custom JavaScript for why that fails the moment someone opens DevTools. ## Rolling It Out to Clients Build and test on your Framer staging domain first, where PageLock is free. Lock the portal page, log in with a test credential yourself, and confirm the published page shows only the login form when you open it in a private browser window. View Source is the honest test: if the client content is not in the HTML, the gate is doing its job. When the portal moves to your custom domain, upgrade to a paid plan and keep the URL structure boring and predictable, for example /clients/acme. Send each client their credential in the same email as the link, and note in your project welcome doc where the portal lives. Clients lose links, not bookmarks-with-logins. At project end, revoking the credential is the whole offboarding process. The page can stay published as a template for the next engagement, and nothing needs to be unpublished or rebuilt. ## Common Questions ### Do my clients need to create accounts? No. You create the credentials in PageLock and send them to each client. They enter a password, PIN, or a one-time email code, and they are in. There is no signup flow for them to abandon. ### Can each client see only their own portal? Yes. Give each client their own locked page (or set of pages) with its own credentials. A client can only open the pages whose credentials you gave them. ### What happens when a project ends? Revoke that client's credential in the dashboard. The pages stay live for everyone else, and the removed client sees only the login form. ### Do I need Memberstack or Outseta for this? Not for a portal. Those platforms shine when clients must self-register, pay subscriptions, and manage their own profiles. For sharing gated project content with known clients, a server-side page gate is simpler and cheaper. See PageLock vs Memberstack for the full picture. ## Keep reading Client portals run on PageLock . 'Framer membership' covers two very different needs, and picking the wrong tool for yours is the most common mistake. ### You need a member area A known audience gets access to exclusive pages: a community resource hub, course content, a paid newsletter archive. Members log in and read. PageLock covers this with locked pages and per-member credentials, no external platform, and your content never ships to the browser before login. ### You need a membership business Strangers sign themselves up, pay recurring subscriptions, upgrade tiers, reset their own passwords. That is platform territory: Memberstack or Outseta plus Stripe. More power, more cost, more moving parts. See PageLock vs Memberstack and PageLock vs Outseta for an honest split. ### The middle path: a simple paywall Many creators sell access with the checkout they already have (Stripe payment links, Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy) and deliver PageLock credentials on the thank-you page. You get paid gated content in Framer without subscription infrastructure, and can graduate to a platform later if self-serve signup starts to matter. ### Why not Framer's built-in password? It gates the whole site with one shared password, so your public pages go dark and every member shares one secret you can never rotate per person. Fine for a private staging site, wrong for a member area. More in the password protection guide . ## Structuring Gated Content in Framer A member area is usually more than one page. Two patterns cover almost every site. ### A locked hub page One protected page acts as the members-only homepage and links out to everything else. Simplest to run: one lock, one credential set, and the hub is the only entrance members need to remember. ### Locked CMS collections Store lessons, issues, or resources as Framer CMS items and lock the collection pages. New content published to the collection is gated automatically, which is what makes course sites and newsletter archives manageable at scale. ## Launch Checklist Start on your staging domain, where PageLock is free, and build the full flow before charging anyone: lock the hub page, add one test member credential, publish, and confirm in a private window that the published page contains only the login form. If your members-only content shows up in View Source, something is wrong; with a server-side gate it will not be there. Decide how access is sold before launch day. The simplest working pattern is a Stripe payment link or Gumroad checkout whose confirmation page or receipt email tells the buyer how to get their credential. Manual onboarding is fine at the start: it is a few minutes per member, and you learn who your members are. Moving to the custom production domain requires a paid PageLock plan; check the live pricing page for plans and the user limits that matter to you. From there, growth is operational: add members as they join, revoke them when they leave, and keep publishing content into the locked pages or CMS collections, which inherit protection automatically. ## Common Questions ### Is this a full Framer membership platform? No, and that is the point. PageLock gives you gated content in Framer: locked pages, per-member credentials, and a branded login. It does not do self-serve signup, subscription billing, or member profiles. If you need those, a platform like Memberstack fits; see PageLock vs Memberstack . ### How do members pay for access? Sell access through the checkout you already use, such as Stripe payment links, Gumroad, or Lemon Squeezy, and send credentials after purchase. PageLock handles the gate; your checkout handles the money. ### Can I gate Framer CMS content? Yes. PageLock supports Framer CMS locking, so dynamic collection pages like course lessons or article archives can sit behind the login, not just static pages. ### How many members can I add? You can add multiple users per lock and revoke any of them individually. For current plan specifics and limits, check the live pricing page . ## Keep reading Member areas run on PageLock . They're built for different jobs. Here's an honest framing of when each one is the right pick - not a sales pitch in disguise. ## What each one is for ### Memberstack A full membership platform. Identity, plans, Stripe billing, user accounts, password resets, profile pages - all in one. Used by sites that need to run a membership business: paid newsletters, course platforms, communities. ### PageLock A focused server-side gate. Lock a Framer page behind a password, PIN, or email OTP in 60 seconds. No member accounts, no Stripe-for-your-users, no profile UI. Used by client portals, staging sites, gated case studies, soft-launch pages. ## Pick Memberstack if… You're running a business with members who log in. ### You need member accounts Each customer needs their own login, profile, password reset, and subscription record. ### You sell access Stripe billing, plan tiers, drip content, and recurring access checks per user. ### You need member-facing UI Account pages, billing portal, profile editing - all rendered inside your Framer site. ## Pick PageLock if… You need a gate, not a membership business. ### You're an agency Client portals where one password unlocks the staging site for a known audience. ### You want truly secure PageLock's content is physically removed from the public HTML and served only after server-side authentication. View Source on a locked page shows nothing. ### You want simple One Framer plugin click to lock. No user accounts to manage, no billing UI to design. ### You want it free Free tier covers staging domains. Custom-domain protection is a flat monthly price - see pricing . ## You can run both Some teams use Memberstack for paid members and PageLock for client previews on the same Framer site. They solve different problems. ## Feature by feature PageLock Memberstack Runs inside Framer Native plugin External service, added via scripts Gating model Content stripped server-side before publish Member login with rules applied in the browser Self-serve member signup No, you issue credentials Yes Stripe billing for your members No, pair with your own checkout Yes, built in Per-page locks with separate credentials Yes Plan and role based Login methods Password, PIN, email OTP Email/password and social logins Free tier Free on Framer staging domains Free while in development Pricing model Flat plans, see /pricing Platform pricing that grows with membership ## Common questions Is PageLock a Memberstack alternative for Framer? For gating pages, yes. PageLock is the lighter, Framer-native alternative when you need a secure gate without running a membership business. If you need self-serve member accounts, plan tiers, and Stripe billing per member, Memberstack remains the right tool. Does PageLock support multiple users? Yes. A lock can have multiple users with their own passwords, PINs, or email OTP logins. What it does not do is member-facing profiles, self-serve password resets, or per-member billing. Which one hides page content more thoroughly? PageLock removes protected content from the published page and stores it on Proofly servers, so View Source and DevTools show only the login form until the server authenticates the visitor. Can I run Memberstack and PageLock on the same site? Yes. Some teams use Memberstack for paid members and PageLock for client previews on the same Framer site. They solve different problems. ## Switching, or starting from scratch If you evaluated Memberstack because you searched for a Memberstack alternative for Framer and all you actually need is gated content, the PageLock setup is short: create a lock in the Proofly dashboard, pick password, PIN, or email OTP, run the PageLock plugin on the page in Framer, and publish. The protected content is stripped out of the published page at that point, which is what makes the gate bypass-proof: there is nothing in the page source to reveal. Add one user per client or member, and revoke individually when access should end. PageLock is free on Framer staging domains while you build; locking a custom production domain takes a paid plan, with live prices on the pricing page . If you later outgrow the gate and need self-serve signup with subscriptions, adopting Memberstack at that point loses you nothing: the two tools do not conflict, and many sites run both. ## What Migrating Actually Involves If you already run Memberstack on a Framer site and only use it as a gate, migration is mostly subtraction. Remove the Memberstack scripts and attributes from the pages you are un-gating, lock those pages with PageLock instead, and issue credentials to the people who should keep access. Because PageLock locks are per-page, you can migrate one page at a time and leave the rest of the site untouched while you do it. Plan the communication before the switch: your members will be moving from accounts they created themselves to credentials you issue. For a small, known audience that is one email. For a large self-serve audience, that email is the signal you should probably stay on a membership platform, because self-serve is the part PageLock deliberately does not do. Whichever direction you go, verify the result the same way: open the gated page in a private window and check View Source. With PageLock the protected content is absent from the page entirely, which is the standard your gate should meet. ## Related reading PageLock is the engine behind this comparison: see the PageLock product page for features and pricing. PageLock is a focused gate. If you're comparing them you might be over-buying - or under-buying. Here's how to tell. ## The scope difference ### Outseta CRM + subscription billing + member access + email + help desk. Built for SaaS teams that want one platform to run the whole front-of-house. Replaces multiple tools. ### PageLock Server-side page-gate, nothing more. Doesn't replace your CRM, billing, or help desk - you bring those (Stripe is built in for your own checkout, but PageLock doesn't bill your users). ## Pick Outseta if… You're building a recurring-revenue product. ### You're a SaaS founder You need member accounts, recurring billing, an email tool, and a CRM in one bundle. ### You're consolidating Already paying for Mailchimp + Stripe + Intercom + Notion? Outseta replaces a stack. ### You'll grow into it You expect to add complexity (segmentation, automated emails, support) over time. ## Pick PageLock if… You just need a page locked. ### You're a Framer designer / agency One project, one client password, one Lock. No CRM, no email tool, no help desk needed. ### You want a small bill Free tier for staging domains. A flat monthly price for custom-domain protection - predictable, no per-member fees. See pricing . ### You want to ship in 60 seconds Install the Framer plugin, hit Lock, pick a PIN. The whole thing is one screen. ### You don't want to manage users Outseta's value is business records around each member. PageLock keeps it light: per-user credentials you can revoke individually, or a shared PIN when one code for a known audience is enough. No profiles or billing records to administer. ## The honest answer If you'd describe what you're building as “a product with subscribers,” Outseta is probably right. If you'd describe it as “a Framer site that needs a password,” that's PageLock. ## Feature by feature PageLock Outseta Scope A server-side page gate for Framer Full business platform: memberships, CRM, billing, email Runs inside Framer Native plugin External service, added via scripts Gating model Content stripped server-side before publish Member login enforced by embedded scripts Self-serve signup and subscriptions No, you issue credentials Yes, built in CRM and email campaigns No Yes Setup effort One lock plus one plugin run Platform onboarding: products, plans, embeds Free tier Free on Framer staging domains Trial, then platform pricing Pricing model Flat plans, see /pricing Platform pricing ## Common questions Is PageLock an Outseta alternative for Framer? For gated content in Framer, yes. Outseta is a full business platform with CRM, billing, email, and memberships. PageLock is a focused server-side gate for Framer pages. Pick by the scope you actually need. Do I have to manage user accounts with PageLock? No. You create a lock with a password, PIN, or email OTP and share it. You can add multiple users to a lock, but there are no member profiles or billing records to administer. Which one is cheaper for a simple gate? PageLock is free on Framer staging domains, and locking a custom production domain is a small flat price. Outseta is priced as a platform because it bundles CRM, billing, and email. If all you need is a gate, a focused tool usually costs less. Can I start with PageLock and move to Outseta later? Yes. Nothing about PageLock locks you in: if your site grows into a full membership business, you can adopt a platform later and keep PageLock for previews and internal pages. Does PageLock protect content as strongly as a full platform? For hiding page content, yes, and often more directly: PageLock strips the protected content out of the published page and serves it only after server-side login, so View Source and DevTools show nothing. Platform gating depends on scripts running correctly in the page. What a platform adds is account infrastructure, not a stronger wall. ## The practical path The honest sequencing question is not which product is better, it is which stage your site is at. A Framer site that needs a private area this week gets there with PageLock in minutes: create a lock, choose password, PIN, or email OTP, run the plugin, publish. Content is removed from the published page server-side, so the gate holds even against View Source and DevTools. It is free on staging domains while you build, with flat pricing for custom domains on the pricing page . Outseta earns its platform price when the business itself runs on memberships: subscriptions to bill, a CRM to keep, email campaigns to send. Starting light with a page gate and graduating to a platform when subscriptions become real is a normal path, and nothing about PageLock locks you out of it. ## Questions That Settle the Choice Will strangers ever sign themselves up? If yes, you need a platform. If every person who gets access is someone you already know and approve, a page gate covers it. Does money need to move through the gate? Outseta bills your members for you. PageLock deliberately does not: you sell access with whatever checkout you already use and hand out credentials. That is a feature for freelancers with three clients and a limitation for a subscription business. Who maintains it? An Outseta setup is a small system: products, plans, embeds, emails. A PageLock setup is a lock and a plugin run. If the person maintaining the site is a designer and not an operator, the smaller surface area wins on its own. How reversible is the decision? Fully. Nothing about starting with a page gate blocks a later platform adoption, and running both during a transition is normal. ## Related reading See the PageLock product page for features and pricing. Proofly Forms is built around Framer-native submission capture. Different jobs, different fits. ## What each one is for ### Tally A standalone form builder you embed in (or link to from) any site. Strong logic engine, calculations, payment integration, file uploads. Forms live on Tally and embed via iframe. ### Proofly Forms Webhook inbox that captures submissions from forms you build natively in Framer. Today: the inbox + dashboard. Next up: a drag-and-drop form-builder plugin that ships inside Framer. ## Pick Tally if… ### You want the form on multiple sites One Tally form embeds anywhere - Framer, Notion, Webflow, the marketing channel of the week. ### You need heavy logic right now Complex conditional jumps, calculations, multi-step with payment - Tally has shipped this for years. ### You want a separate analytics surface Tally's own dashboard for response analytics and exports - independent of your site host. ## Pick Proofly Forms if… ### The form lives in Framer You designed the form in Framer's canvas - Tally would mean embedding an iframe that breaks your design system. Proofly captures submissions from the form you already shipped. ### You want one workspace, not five Form submissions, page locks, React exports, payments - all in the same Proofly dashboard, billed on one invoice. No new tool to learn or pay for. ### You don't want an iframe Tally's primary embed is an iframe, which can pull in third-party styles. Proofly Forms captures from the native Framer form you already built, so there is no iframe and no third-party styles bleeding in. ### You want the builder in your workspace The drag-and-drop builder is part of Proofly Forms: design new forms without code, in the same workspace that captures your submissions. ## Feature by feature Proofly Forms Tally Where the form lives Native in your Framer page Embedded iframe or separate tally.so link Works outside Framer No, Framer-focused Yes, anywhere Submission storage Your Proofly dashboard, with export Tally's own dashboard Shares a workspace with your other site tools Yes: PageLock, React Export, MCP, ThemeShift No, separate product Advanced logic and calculations Drag-and-drop builder plus webhook capture Yes, a core strength Webhooks Yes, capture from any Framer form Yes, including the free tier Free tier Free up to a submission threshold Generous free tier ## Common questions Is Proofly Forms a Tally alternative for Framer sites? If your form lives in a Framer site, yes. Proofly Forms is native to Framer, so there is no embedded iframe, and submissions land in the same Proofly dashboard you may already use for PageLock or other plugins. Does Proofly Forms embed an iframe? No. The form is part of your Framer page, which keeps styling consistent and avoids iframe drawbacks like awkward resizing and third-party embeds. Where do submissions go? To your Proofly dashboard. Point any Framer form at your unique webhook URL and read, search, and export submissions there, with timestamps, source page, and full payload. Can I keep using Tally for some forms? Yes. Some teams keep long, logic-heavy surveys in Tally and use Proofly Forms for the contact and lead forms that live inside their Framer site. Can I migrate my existing Tally form into Framer? There is no automated import, but most site forms are short: rebuild the fields with the native Framer form element, point the form at your Proofly webhook URL, and you are capturing in minutes. Export your historical Tally submissions to CSV first so your records stay complete across the switch. ## Setting up Framer form capture If your form already exists in Framer, capture takes minutes: create a free Proofly account, copy your unique webhook URL from the dashboard, and paste it into the Framer form's webhook setting. From then on every submission lands in your Proofly inbox with a timestamp, the source page, and the full payload, ready to search and export. There is no iframe, so your form keeps Framer styling and loads with the page. Basic webhook usage is free up to a submission threshold, with plans on the pricing page . Where Tally genuinely wins today is deep form logic: long multi-step surveys with branching, calculations, and payments are its home turf, and if that is your workload, an embedded Tally form remains a fine choice even inside a Framer site. ## When an Embedded Form Hurts, and When It Does Not An embedded Tally form arrives in an iframe. On a marketing page that means a second document loading inside yours: its own fonts and styles that approximate rather than inherit your design system, a fixed frame that needs height management as questions expand, and a form that analytics tools attribute to tally.so rather than to your page. None of these are fatal, but on a polished Framer site they are visible seams. A native form has none of those seams: it is made of Framer elements, styled in Framer, loading with the page. Proofly Forms captures what that native form submits, which is why it fits contact forms, lead capture, newsletter signups, and feedback widgets, the forms that live inside your site's design. The honest flip side: for a long survey you send people to rather than embed, the iframe question disappears and Tally's logic depth becomes the whole story. Many teams draw exactly that line: native Framer forms for the site, Tally links for research. ## Related reading See the Proofly Forms product page for features and pricing, or compare the other Framer-first option in Proofly Forms vs FramerForms . ## Try Proofly Forms Build a form or capture your first submission today. Get Started --- URL: https://proofly.ae/comparisons/framerforms Title: Proofly Forms vs FramerForms - Direct Comparison | Proofly All products # Proofly Forms vs FramerForms The most direct comparison. Both target Framer designers, both ship as Framer plugins. The differences are in workspace scope and roadmap. Here's the honest version. ## Both are Framer-native form tools Designed by people who ship in Framer. Both insert hosted components or work natively against Framer's form. Pick on workspace fit, not feature spreadsheet. ## Pick FramerForms if… ### You only need forms Forms are your single use-case. You don't care about page-locking, dark mode, or React export - just forms, shipping fast. ### You're already on their workflow Switching cost is real. If you have working FramerForms forms today, the bar to switch should be clear value, not novelty. ### You want a focused product Single-product teams sometimes ship form-specific features faster than a multi-product workspace. Trade-off: less integration with other tools. ## Pick Proofly Forms if… ### You use other Framer tools Already on PageLock, React Export, or ThemeShift? Same dashboard, same login, same Stripe customer record, one invoice. The Proofly Pro bundle saves over individual plans. ### You want forms + everything else Forms inside a workspace that also handles password protection, React export, and dark-mode toggles. One contract, one bill, one team to email when something breaks. ### You value the webhook inbox today Proofly Forms ships a working webhook inbox today - point any Framer form at it, submissions land in your dashboard, and the drag-and-drop builder covers new forms. ### You want a clear pricing model A flat monthly price for the Inbox, with a free tier to start. Bundle pricing if you add more Proofly products. No per-form, per-response, or per-seat surprises. ## The honest answer If forms are your only Proofly use-case, FramerForms is the more focused product - try both, pick the workflow that fits. If you're using or considering any other Framer tool (PageLock, React Export, ThemeShift), Proofly Forms wins by being in the same workspace. ## Feature by feature Proofly Forms FramerForms Framer-native Yes Yes Webhook inbox available today Yes, live now Their own submission handling Drag-and-drop builder Yes Yes Part of a wider plugin suite Yes: one account also covers PageLock, React Export, MCP, ThemeShift Forms only Submission export Yes, from the dashboard Per their plan limits Pricing model Flat plans, see /pricing Their own subscription tiers ## Common questions What is the main difference between Proofly Forms and FramerForms? Both are Framer-native form tools. Proofly Forms is part of the wider Proofly suite, so one account also covers PageLock, React Export, MCP, and ThemeShift, and submissions land in the same dashboard through the webhook inbox. Do I need other Proofly plugins to use Proofly Forms? No. Proofly Forms works on its own. The suite is a bonus if you later need password protection, React export, or dark mode on the same site. Is there a free tier? Yes. Basic webhook usage is free up to a submission threshold. See the pricing page for live plans and prices. Can I try Proofly Forms without committing? Yes. Create a free account, point one existing Framer form at your webhook URL, and watch submissions arrive in the dashboard. It costs nothing up to the free submission threshold, changes nothing about your form design, and you can remove the webhook at any time. That makes a side-by-side trial against any other form tool a ten-minute experiment. ## How to decide Two Framer-native tools this close come down to workspace and roadmap. If forms are the only thing you need and you want a visual builder today, FramerForms is a focused product that does that one job. If your Framer site also needs password protection, React export, AI automation, or dark mode at some point, Proofly Forms means one account and one dashboard for all of it: submissions arrive in the same place you manage PageLock users, and the drag-and-drop builder ships into the plan you already have. Getting started costs nothing: point an existing Framer form at your webhook URL from the dashboard and submissions start landing immediately, free up to a submission threshold, with live plans on the pricing page . ## One Workspace in Practice The suite argument is abstract until you run a real site on it, so here is the concrete version. A portfolio site with a contact form and a gated client area needs two tools: form capture and password protection. With Proofly, both live under one account: the contact form points at your Forms webhook URL, the client pages sit behind PageLock, and both are managed from the same dashboard you log into once. That coupling keeps paying as the site grows. Add dark mode with ThemeShift, hand a developer clean React components with React Export, or let an AI assistant restructure pages through MCP, all without creating another account or learning another billing portal. If none of that applies to you and forms are genuinely the whole job, weigh FramerForms on its own merits: it is Framer-native too, and it is a focused single-product tool. The comparison table above is the honest scorecard; pick the row that describes your site. And since both tools have free entry points, trying each against your real form for a week costs nothing but the setup minutes. ## Related reading See the Proofly Forms product page for features and pricing, or see how it stacks up against an embedded builder in Proofly Forms vs Tally . ## Try Proofly Forms Connect your first form in 60 seconds. The short version: server-side gates, trusted infrastructure providers, no secrets in plugin source code. ## The product security model Every Proofly product is built on the same principle: secrets stay on the server. ### Server-side gates PageLock's authentication runs server-side. Locked Framer content is physically removed from the public site and served only after a successful authentication request. Inspecting the HTML, View Source, or browser devtools reveals nothing. ### Encrypted content, hashed credentials Protected content is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM. Passwords and PINs never touch the browser and are stored only as salted hashes, never in plaintext. The Framer plugin only references opaque lock identifiers. ### Webhook signature verification Forms Inbox webhooks are signed and verified on receipt. Stripe webhooks are signature-verified before any state changes. We don't trust unsigned payloads anywhere in the pipeline. ### Per-product access scopes Your PageLock data is isolated from your Forms data by per-product row-level security policies in the database. One product cannot read another. ## Infrastructure The services we trust with your data, and what each one does. ### Stripe - payments Card data never touches Proofly servers. All payment processing happens in Stripe Checkout. We store only the Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, and invoice metadata. PCI DSS compliance: Stripe's. ### Supabase - application data Postgres database with row-level security. Encrypted at rest, TLS in transit, daily backups, point-in-time recovery on paid tiers. Supabase operates SOC 2 Type II-compliant infrastructure. ### OVH - application server The Proofly application runs on dedicated OVH infrastructure in the EU. Docker containerised, behind a reverse proxy with strict TLS settings. ISO 27001 + ISO 27701 compliance: OVH's. ### Resend - transactional email Billing emails, password resets, and OTP codes are sent via Resend. DKIM- and SPF-signed. Bounce and complaint events are processed so we don't keep sending to dead addresses. ### Cloudflare - network edge DNS, content delivery, and a web application firewall sit in front of the application. Cloudflare terminates TLS at the edge and filters malicious traffic before it reaches our servers. ## Operational practices ### Secrets management API keys and database credentials live in encrypted environment variables on the OVH host. Never committed to git, never logged. We rotate high-value keys on a regular schedule. ### Dependency auditing Production dependencies are audited via npm audit on every deploy. High-severity advisories block the pipeline. Direct dependency tree kept small. ### Webhook idempotency Stripe and partner webhooks are processed idempotently - duplicate deliveries (Stripe retries up to 3 days) cannot create duplicate state. Out-of-order events are retried via a 503 signal. ### Disclosure policy Report security issues to [email protected] . We aim to acknowledge within 2 business days and prioritise high-severity fixes. Coordinated disclosure preferred, and we will credit you if you would like. ## Questions about security? This guide takes you from a fresh account to a protected, published page, then covers users, templates, and the fixes for the most common issues. New to PageLock? Start with the product overview or browse all Proofly docs . ## Getting started Sign up for a free account . The free plan includes 1 Page Lock and 1 User forever. In your dashboard, click New Page Lock and give the lock a descriptive name, for example 'Client Portal' or 'Members Area'. Install the PageLock plugin from the Framer Marketplace. One install covers all your Framer projects. In your Framer project, open the command palette, search for Plugins, and select PageLock. Paste your Lock ID from the dashboard into the plugin, choose an authentication type and a login template, and click Protect Page . The plugin protects the currently active page, so make sure you are on the right one. Publish your site. The protection is live: the published page now contains only the login form, and the protected content is served from Proofly servers after a successful login. Tip: reuse one Lock ID across several pages to share credentials between them, or create separate locks for different access levels. ## Authentication types ### PIN code A shared numeric or alphanumeric code. Best for quick client previews, temporary access, and anywhere a single shared secret is fine. Set the PIN in the Manage Users section of your lock (minimum 4 characters). ### Username and password Individual accounts with unique credentials. Best for member areas and client portals where you need to revoke one person's access without touching anyone else's. Create accounts in Manage Users . You can enable both methods on the same lock; visitors pick either at login. Email OTP login is also available when you want access tied to an inbox instead of a shared secret. ## Managing users Add a user: open your lock in the Page Locks dashboard , click Manage Users, enter a username and password, click Add User. Remove a user: click Remove next to their name. Takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. Disable PIN access: click Disable in the PIN Code section; only username/password logins work after that. Limits: your plan determines how many users you can create across all locks. See pricing for current plans. ## Login templates Pick from the built-in templates (Minimal, Modern, Classic, Dark) and customize the logo, colors, title text, and background. Preview inside the plugin before publishing. Premium templates and saved presets are included on Pro plans. ## Troubleshooting ### Login page not appearing Publish your Framer site after adding protection; the gate only exists on the published site. Verify the Lock ID in the plugin matches the dashboard. Clear the browser cache and retry. ### Users cannot log in Credentials are case-sensitive; re-check both fields. Confirm the user still exists on the lock, and the PIN is set if using PIN login. ### 'Lock not found' Copy the entire Lock ID, confirm the lock was not deleted, and check that your subscription is active. ### Removing protection Open the plugin on the protected page, click Remove Protection , and then republish the site. Republishing matters: the published page keeps the baked-in gate until you publish again. Still stuck? Submissions are stored securely in the EU. ## Notes and limits Basic webhook usage is free up to a submission threshold; see pricing for live plans. One account covers all your Framer projects; each site gets its own webhook URL, with usage limits per your plan.
